How to remove candle wax from your tablecloth
The verdict is still out as to which method works best, so we'll share both. These two methods for removing candle wax are tried and true so choose the one that works best for you (or both). It's usually completely worth it to have an amazing tablescape for your wonderful dinner party or event, but candle wax can be very difficult to remove. Certain waxes (and colors) can absolutely stain your linens but here is how to remove it.
Suggestion: combine these methods one after the other for the best results. Launder at the end of the treatments as opposed to in between treatments.
Using Cold
1. Remove your tablecloth and fold it so the wax is on the outside. Then place the linen in your freezer for at least 4 hours. If there are multiple droplets, you can also leave your cloth on the table and place bags of ice over each spot.
2. Use a dull knife to scrape the frozen wax off of your cloth.
3. Repeat as needed.
4. Launder your tablecloth (following these suggested care instructions).
Using Heat
1. Place a brown paper bag on both sides of the waxed cloth.
2. Heat your standard fabric iron to warm or medium and iron over the bag. This should transfer the wax from the fabric, onto the paper bag.
3. Repeat using a clean paper bag (you can also use a paper towel) until it is gone.
4. Launder your tablecloth (following these suggested care instructions).
Wishing you well!
